Popple was founded by us (Prianna Sharan and Remi Chester). With personal experience of the challenges in making friends and socializing in a post-COVID digital world during our freshman year, we conceptualized Popple as the first social media for real-world connection. Leveraging our background in marketing and mobile app development, as well as our deep understanding of the student market, we’re thrilled to bring Popple to life.
Popple is a platform that connects students with local events and activities, enabling them to form groups and attend these events together. Our vision is for students to get on Popple and find an activity they’re interested in, and be connected to others interested in doing that same activity. Whether you’re looking to start a study group, catch a comedy show, or go rollerskating, Popple is the perfect app to meet new friends and have fun together.
Here are some of our achievements over the last couple months:
- Won 15k from BU’s Poyiadjis Innovation Competition
- Conceptualized and designed a high-fidelity demo of the app, refined it by testing with over 50 beta users. 90% had a positive reaction and said they would love to download Popple to improve their social life
- Startup in Masschallenge’s Early Stage accelerator
- Garnered over 5,000 followers on our TikTok and Instagram accounts by sharing our ideas and personalities
- Entered the Fly Stage of Boston University’s Innovation Pathway, and was awarded 4.5K as a result
